One of my favorite indulgences in the world is orange chocolate. I love anything chocolate and anything orange flavored. There is just something about it that takes all my stress away. It is the perfect pick me up on a bad day. I will always recall that fateful Valentines day when I opened my gift and tasted the orangey goodness for the first time. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. If you have never tried it before, you definitely must add it to your shopping lists. These are the best even for those that do not particularly like chocolate. They can be used to make baked treats even more scrumptious.
The Perfect Adult Chocolate Cake
Have you ever been to a birthday party and had disgustingly sweet chocolate cake? Those cakes are fine, when you are 5 years old. However, as an adult I want my taste buds to experience a more mature kind of cake. A good alternative to a plain, old-fashioned chocolate cake is to improvise by making or buying a chocolate orange cake. When I make this cake I always use the chocolate from Lindt. They have the best quality chocolates and they just taste good. The great thing about this flavor is that you do not necessarily have to be a fan of oranges to enjoy it. It has a subtle orange taste that compliments the chocolate in an extraordinary way.
Fun Alternative
Another option when it comes to baked creations is to use chocolate orange cupcakes. Many companies order these cupcakes for special events and meetings. The orange flavor can be incorporated into milk or dark chocolate in the frosting and in the batter itself. This is a fun cupcake to use during special occasions and holidays too. Imagine all the ways that you can decorate it for Halloween or Thanksgiving, which are both holidays that seem to incorporate the color orange. You can even use these cupcakes at more formal functions by making it look a tad more elegant with a chocolate covered orange peel as its topper.
Finding The Perfect Recipe
For those that want to try their hand at baking there are many recipes that can be easily be found on the internet. Choosing the right recipe just depends on your own personal preference. Some people will prefer a gluten free recipe while others may want to use organic dark chocolate. I would suggest finding an article that has user reviews. This way you will gain some insight on what other users did or did not like about the recipe. If you find an orange chocolate cake recipe that you like but want to make cupcakes, all you have to do is use a muffin tin instead of a cake mold.
Don’t Knock It ‘Til You’ve Tried It
I know that for some people an orange chocolate flavored cake may sound a bit weird. I promise you that it is nothing but delicious. The wonderful way that the flavors blend in together will make you regret that you didn’t try it sooner.
