Preparation
Before you start making rose chocolates, you must know how it looks like. Well, everyone knows how it looks like, but the question is, can you draw it? If you can’t draw it, then you can’t make it. Look for pictures of roses to serve as your guide. It depends if you want a bouquet of roses or just one. If you are planning to create a bouquet of roses for a big wedding cake, you need to have a lot of pictures. You don’t want to have the same looking rose for the whole cake because it would look too stiff and it will lose the cake’s character. If you only need one for every piece like cupcakes, it is better to make identical roses to have formality. You’ll only need one rose photo for that.
It is also a good idea to have a real rose rather than a photo. With a real rose, you can see finer details and the outcome of your work would look more realistic. You can also play around with white chocolate. Roses have different color: red, pink, white, yellow, violet, and blue. With white chocolate, you can create different colors for your roses, even bizarre ones. Chocolate dyeing is very simple to do, but there are also pre-dyed chocolate bars readily available as a simpler option.
Arts And Molding
There is an easy way if you want to do a chocolate rose on suppressed time. You can use chocolate molds. You just have to melt any baking chocolate you like. Pour them on molds. Let them set, and you are done! But if you want to create a more realistic 3D rose you should give more time and effort to it.
For a 3D rose, you will need a chocolate plastic. A chocolate plastic is a mixture of chocolate and corn syrup. This is a dough form of a chocolate. I would describe it as “modeling clay” for it is soft and pliable for molding. You can purchase ready-made chocolate plastic in baking supply stores. Once you have your chocolate plastic and the color you desire for your chocolate rose, you should now start dusting your work surface with powdered sugar to keep the chocolate from sticking everywhere.
